On August 14th, there was a call for a National Moment of Silence  for Mike Brown and all those who have lost their lives to police brutality. I attended what was supposed to be a vigil -that was led by a white woman - and was so outraged by her trying to silence the crowd when they wanted to chant and release some pent up shit. I was upset that a white woman was coordinating this vigil. I was upset when black folks were buying into this idea that being peaceful was going to solve shit because “we all bleed red and we’re all human.” To tell you the truth, I was just pissed the fuck off. I was approached by BuzzFeed to participate in a project they were doing around police brutality. We were asked why we attended the vigil/rally and to write down one thing you would like to tell your community. You can check out the audio of what I, along with other folks, had to say here:

Fuck the police, that’s how I treat ‘em. We buy our way out of jail but we can’t buy freedom.
